Dr. Walser is a native of Illinois.  After graduating from Downers Grove South H.S., she went to Western Illinois University and then graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1983.  She has practiced general optometry with a specialization in contact lenses at her present location in Downers Grove since 1983.

Dr. Walser and her staff regularly attend continuing education programs in order to stay up-to-date with knowledge of the latest developments in the eye care field.
Her volunteer commitments have taken the doctor to Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, and Mexico.  As part of an optometric team, she examined eyes and provided donated eyeglasses for the poor.  She has worked locally in the Chicago Pilsen neighborhood and in Joliet to help at risk and uninsured families receive vision care.  Dr. Walser was an eighteen year member of the Downers Grove Rotary Club, where she served as secretary and was named a Honorary Rotarian.  She is also an active member of St. Joseph’s church.

Dr. Walser and her husband Tom live locally in Downers Grove.  Their son Mike attends the University of Alabama.  The doctor enjoys baking, reading, and travel in her spare time.
Our office is an approved vision care provider for many eye care plans.  For routine vision examinations, eyeglasses, or contact lenses, we are providers for the Vision Service Plans (VSP): Signature, Choice and Cigna Vision and Vision Care Plan (VCP).  We will obtain the prior authorization your plan requires through the internet before your visit.

For your medical needs, our office is a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO provider.  However, we are not a BCBS-HMO provider.  For our elderly patients and the disabled, we are also a Medicare B and Tricare Provider (non-participating).  We do not accept Medicaid.

We are not providers of AETNA, Humana or United Health Care PPO insurance plans.  However, we will take payment for services and then bill your insurance company for reimbursement on your behalf.

Pleases remember that no insurance company will cover all optometric costs.  Some companies pay fixed allowances for certain procedures, while others instead pay a percentage of the total charge.  At the time of your appointment, it is your responsibility to pay any deductible, co-insurance payment, or other balance incurred that is not covered by your insurance company.  We do not accept credit or debit cards for payment.
